Skins on MTV

Why It Just May Suck...

1) It's in Baltimore...what's in Baltimore? It should have been in a bigger city in order to gain more diversity in race and character and have fun with location and time. For example, New York never sleeps with more actions than other places.


2) TV regulations. On MTV, they thrive off of females wearing short skirts and putting a big black box where the shocker would be. MTV has only made themselves to be the cheesy takers on teenage issues with the Degrassi reruns in the morning and South Park and fist pumping Jersey Shore.


3) Who knows how they'll write the stories? I'm pretty sure the story of Jal and Chris is far more entertaining and dynamic than that of Liberty and JT of Degrassi.



My guess is that Skins will be a hit because of the youngins. It will be a step better than Degrassi and 5 steps behind the original. Hey, kids like shiny plastic. But as for people who love the British version, it may be a respected disappointment... I think the risque factor will remain in an interesting way but the storyline will not be anywhere as thought out as the British.
