Nickolodeon in the 90's

Nick Nick Nick Nickelodeon!

If you remembered that jingle, you were probably a 90's kid who had cable (or a creepy pedo who had cable). In any case Nickelodeon used to be awesome!

It was a kids station that had programming that connected with kids and their parents as well. These shows weren't afraid to use innuendos or scare children. Hey, kids have to learn sometime, right?

I certainly miss it, and so do millions of other now adult 90's kids ( At least according to all the "I want my 90's Nick back" groups on Facebook)

Without further ado, here's a list of my top ten favorite Nickelodeon shows of the 90's

10. Are You Afraid of the Dark? - I still believe that children should learn about fear. it's a healthy emotion that can help kids discern what is right and wrong. this show was campy, but it's scary to a little tyke.

9. Adventures of Pete and Pete- This show was surreal, it was about two messed up brothers, both named Pete and how they live in the always strange waste land called suburbia. This show is still weird today, even for Nick's standards. Plus the music in this show was pretty awesome.

8.
Rocko's Modern Life- The prelude to Spongebob, this show concerned a sensitive and slightly effeminate Australian wallaby named Rocko who was friends with a fat cow ( literally) named Heffer and a Woody Allen- George Costanza type turtle named Filbert. Rocko's neighbors were two toads whose names were the Bigheads. Many innuendos would occur when Mrs. Bighead would hit On Rocko. This show was funny, unique and a little naughty. Plus the theme song was sung by the B52's, how can you beat that?

7. Hey Arnold & Doug -Love both of these. Arnold would have turned out to be a hipster and Doug would have been a journalist.

6. AHH! Real Monsters- A creepy Burtonesque show about a bunch of monsters.

5. All That- A cheesy kids SNL that was actually pretty funny in it's early years. It also launched the career of Kenan Thompson, who would ironically become a member of SNL.

4.Catdog- So dumb you've got to love it.

3. Ren and Stimpy- Rude, crude and weirdly entertaining.

2. Kabalm!- Kind of a cartoon skit show with tons of weird toons.

1. Rugrats- My childhood favorite. How can you not love talking babies, evil toddler bitch Angelica and a dinosaur called Reptar?
